Think you might have Bipolar Disorder?

Bipolar disorder is characterised by high periods containing symptoms like

  • Inflated self-esteem or grandiosity

  • Decreased need for sleep

  • Increased talkativeness

  • Racing thoughts

  • Distracted easily

  • Increase in goal-directed activity or “needing to do something”

  • Engaging in activities without thought for later consequences (e.g. giving away money and possessions, unrestrained buying sprees, etc.)

And low periods containing symptoms like

  • Depressed mood most of the time

  • Loss of interest and pleasure in almost everything

  • Significant weight loss or gain

  • Engaging in purposeless movements (e.g. pacing the room)

  • Fatigue

  • Feelings of worthlessness or guilt

  • Diminished ability to think, concentrate or indecisiveness

  • Recurrent thoughts of death, recurrent suicidal ideation with or without a plan or a suicide attempt/s.
